Fatal Accident at Denaby Main Colliery

About two o’clock on Wednesday afternoon a fatal accident occurred at the above colliery.

One of the miners named James Jackson, who resided in the Pit Row, was engaged in what is termed “drawing the back props in the gob,” but instead of having three props set he had only two, and in consequence of this several tons of the roof, consisting of earth and stones, fell upon him.

Deceased, who was a married man, leaves a wife and five children.
