Burning Fatality at Denaby

A boy, seven years of age, son of P Higgins of Edlington Street, last Thursday succumbed to injuries received the previous day.

It appears the child’s mother left the house effect on call, while she was absent the deceased sat on the fender with his brother, and both are playing with fire.

The brother, it appeared, removed a piece of “dross” from the fire, and it fell on the deceased boy’s shirt, which immediately ignited.

The boys screams attracted the neighbour’s attention and the flames were quickly extinguished, but not before the boy received severe burns.
