Killed in Action
Mr and Mrs Butcher, of 12 Melton Street received a telegram on Friday evening informing them that their son, bombardier William Henry Butcher, had been killed in action on May 29 and was buried on that day (Friday) at Ramsgate cemetery.
Bombardier Butcher was a member of the Territorials, and went out to France at the commencement of hostilities in September.
He was home on leave in January.
Before enlistment he was employed at Denaby Colliery underground, where he had many friends, who will learn with regret of his death.
