The Civic Sunday Service held on Sunday at Denaby Parish Church was conducted by the Vicar, the reverent R.S. Whitehead.

The Chairman of Conisbrough Urban Council, County Councillor A. Haywood, J.P., is a resident of Denaby Main and at the service he was accompanied by Mrs Haywood, the Clerk to the Council (Mr E.T.Mellor) and members and official of Council.

The procession from the Council Offices was led by Denaby St John Ambulance Band and the Cadet band and in the procession were representatives of the St John Ambulance Brigade and Nursing Division along with Nursing Cadets and Boy Cadets with their officers.

Also in attendance were Brownies, Guides, Cubs and Scouts and during the service their banners were laid in the Sanctuary.

The lesson were read by Mr Mellor and the Chairman of the Council. Mr G Blenkiron was the organist. After the service the procession re-formed and marched to the headquarters of the St John Ambulance Club in Cliff View.
