Conisbrough Pet Faithful To The End

”Toby,’ a brown mongrel terrier, who had two masters and always shared his affections between them, is now fretting at one of his house in Lime Grove, Conisbrough; for her has lost one of his masters.

On Monday 87-years-old Mr. Henry Milnes, of Lime Grove, Conisbrough, died of a heart attack, leaving ”Toby” with only one master. Every morning ”Toby’ would go to the home of Mr. Milnes, leaving his owner, Mrs. Ivy Harper, who lives only a few doors away in Lime Grove. At 9 p.m regularly he would return home. If the dog met the two together during the day he would stay with Mr. Milnes, and if he saw the two at night time he would stay with Mrs. Harper (as reported previously in the ”Times”).

”Toby” was faithful to the end. For on Monday, when Mr. Milnes died, a neighbour came to fetch Mrs Harper to take the dog home. But ”Toby” would not go with her as it was daytime. ”He was lying at Mr. Milnes bedside and would not come away.” she said.

But now ”Toby” has been taken to Mrs. Harper’s and she said she would not let him out until after the funeral on Monday.
