Collision

Two cars were in collision in Doncaster Road, Conisbrough, at the junction with Edlington Lane on Tuesday, but the drivers, Terence Martin John Fitzwilliam (25), of 41, Drakehead Lane, Conisbrough, and Morris Dunfield St. John Martinnant, of 30, Hillcrest Road, Doncater, were unhurt.

A former Barnsley man who may now be Conisbrough’s oldest resident celebrated his 95th birthday on Monday. He is Mr. Thomas Henry Grainger, who lives with his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. Newell, at 16, Cedric Avenue, Conanby. Mr. Grainger once cycled from Birmingham to Barnsley on a “penny-farthing”. His wife, Mrs. Hannah Grainger, died 12 years ago. Mr. Grainger has three sons, eight daughters, 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
