Mortally wounded in France

Mrs Cope of 19 Cusworth Street, has received notification of the death of her husband Private Charles Cope, York and Lancaster regiment.

He enlisted two years ago and had been in France five weeks when he was mortally wounded.

Prior to enlistment he was employed at the Cadeby colliery.

Private Cope had three brothers serving,

Private Frank Cope, K.O.Y.L.I., who has been in France 16 months,
Driver Sam Cope, who went out in January this year, and
Lance Cpl George Cope, who is in training at Clipstone.
