Oxley Road, Bentley, formerly of Old Denaby, has died in hospital in Leeds of wounds received in action in France on June 20 and was interred with military honours at Arksey.

Before enlistment he was employed at the Bentley branch of Messrs Jonathan Whitaker and sons, pawnbroker’s and jewellers, and was a bellringer at the Bentley parish church.

On the occasion of his funeral a muffled peal was rung.

He was 20 years of age and unmarried. His brother Private H. Cranidge isserving with the R.A.M.C. in France.
