E Tibbles 96, I Greenwood 67                S Jewsbury 52; Higgins 4-41

A splendid partnership by Tibbles and Greenwood at Denaby on Saturday gave Denaby their first win.

The Wath innings served again to emphasise Denaby’s need of bowling reinforcements. Therefore bowlers were without assistance. Scoring were generally slow, however, while Wath batted. Higgins took four wickets for 41 and Robinson three for 22.

The Denaby batting was in delightful contrast, and in 50 minutes, Tibbles (picture) and Greenwood scored 108 runs, Tibbles scoring exactly twice as fast as his partner.

After 70 minutes Tibbles had scored 96 and then played a ball onto his wicket. He hit 15 fours and two sixes.

Greenwood reached 50 in 73 minutes. Denaby were at the wickets 85 minutes. Wath too, need greater variety in attack.
