Thorncliffe 85 Denaby 177

At Thorncliffe, yesterday. Denaby battled first and only seven had been scored when Peeples was caught at point. Greenwood and Wainwright played free cricket, and in spite of bowling changes a fast scoring pace was maintained. Greenwood reached his half-century in 47 minutes, and it was not until the total had reached 84 that the two were separated. The sixth wicket fell at 129, but the talil showed fight, and a total of 177 was achieved.

Thorncliffe lost Hague at 10 to Kennedy and the same bowler got both Kirkham and Bradbury a run later, and only another single had been added when Worthington dismissed Rowbotham. Hollingsworth and Oates saved the side from complete collapse, and took the score to 55 before a further bowling success came. But the remaining batsmen did not offer much resistance, and Denaby won by 92 runs. For Denaby Higgins took four wickets for 17 runs.Mexborough and Swinton Times,
