Denaby Notes

Denaby United

Played Gainsborough Trinity at home on Saturday, and beat them easily by 7 – 0. Jepson being responsible for two goals, Bransby, one, Turner two, Marshall one, and Peters, who is at home on a short furlough and played right back, also scored.

If the United could have shown this form earlier in the season things might have been different in the league table.

The St John’s Ambulance Brigade attended church last Sunday morning. The band played after service, and it seemed quite a revival of old times to see the brigade march back to their quarters. Notwithstanding the fact that the war had claimed so many of its members.

A concert was held on Tuesday, the 27th. In the Rossington Street schools, the proceeds being to help to provide for the Sunday school children’s Whitsun treat. The Rev Gregory was chairman, and about 50 children helped in the entertainment, which consisted of a series of songs, recitations, and musical items, with Miss E. Wrathmall as accompanist. The attendance was very satisfactory and all agreed on having spent a most enjoyable evening.
