Denaby Sports Entry Doubled

Denaby and Cadeby Amateur Athletics Clubs second annual sport, held on Denaby and Cadeby cricket ground on Saturday, attracted over 370 competitors from Denaby, Conisbrough, Mexborough, Swinton, Wath, Maltby, Highland and Doncaster. The entry was more than twice that of last year, and the prizes were increased from about £90 to £140.

This year six field events were added: only track events were organised last year.

Opening the event, Mr R. Ditchfield, the club president, said club membership had trebled in the past 12 months and was now nearly 100. He said this increase had been archived mainly because their “younger men” had become interested. 28 events were organised in all but four of these were open to young people under 18.
