Denaby United – Another Transfer
Swift on the heels of the transfer of “Tim” Womack from Denaby United to Derby County a week ago came the news this week of the transfer on Tuesday night to Lincoln City of right-half D. Winfield.
Winfield, a local boy, played in district junior football before joining Denaby United this season. He had made only five successive appearances with the Midland League side, the most recent on Saturday when Denaby beat Mansfield at Mansfield 3-2. He has just completed his National Service.
At Mansfield on Saturday, Egan gave Denaby a 26th minute lead. Mitten equalised from a penalty, but Egan restored United’s lead before half-time. Emmonds made it two-all after 67 minutes but Lee got the winner for United.
Denaby go to Westfield Lane on Saturday to meet Frickley Colliery in an F.A. Cup qualifier.
