Disappointing Finale but Denaby Keep That 1957 Home Record
The Home Finale
Denaby United 1 Frickley 1
The curtain came down on Midland league football at Tickill Square in this 1956 – 7 season with a very wheezy clank on Monday evening. By and large justice was done in this one all verdict, for Frickley were just about as inept as Denaby. Generally the two defences mastered much below form forward lines who had very little design and an almost complete absence of craft.
Passes went to non-existent players with a frustrating regularity – or failing that, with perfect precision to the opposition, and when the lines did get underway there was the further frustration of waving flags and offside decision which did nothing to improve the spectators frame of mind.
Egan scored Denaby’s goal.
