Rover’s Easy Victory

Doncaster Rovers Reserves 4 Denaby United 1

Doncaster Rovers Reserves, who defeated Denaby at Tickill Square on October 10 by a narrow one goal margin, one at Doncaster on Saturday more easily than the score suggested. Nevertheless Denaby, while at times beaten by cleverer schemers, were several times unlucky not to score. Therefore it short splendid ability in flashes, but their finishing was not comparable to that of their opponents, who were quite on top of their form.

Killourhy, was the best: real netted early in the game, but the point was disallowed for an infringement. However, after 15 minutes Dodd opened the scoring, for Killourhy to add a second goal just after the interval.

Denaby reduce the lead later from Shephard, who beat Imrie from the penalty spot.

Dodd missed a penalty for Doncaster early in the second half, but Johnson added a third goal and Killourhy a fourth.

The Rovers were strong in every department with the attack working splendidly, Dodd being a fine forceful leader and Little and Johnson skilful wingers. Turner was a hard worker in the middle.

Denaby’s right-wing Dawson and Fleetwood, were always scheming cleverly, while Betts tried hard without much success. Tremain gave another capital display, saving a penalty from Dodd in addition to making other fine clearances. Shepherd was a sound half.
