Denaby’s Poor Display at Grantham.

Grantham Avenue 4 Denaby United 1

Denaby put up very poor fight against the Avenue at Grantham, who, however, are on the top of their form just now.

Right from the commencement the home side asserted their superiority, and two delightful sprints by the flier, Woodruffe, brought about the desired effect. An unfortunate altercation between Bennett and Beck, caused through the former “nudging” Beck’s nose, and drawing blood, afterwards was the means of a considerable amount of roughness being shown, and the play suffered in consequence.

Avenue, however, renewed their attacks in the second half, and scored two further goals, Bennett responding with a lucky point. On the day’s play Avenue were well ahead of the visitors, whose display was distinctly disappointing.
