Denaby United Back To Form

Hallam 0, Denaby United 3

Lowly positioned Hallam presented little difficulty to Denaby United who played competently to win this Yorkshire League match 3-0 at Sandygate.

Hallam, whose ranks are always depleted when players return to college and university, played second fiddle for most of the game and Silverwood, in the Denaby goal, had little to make life uncomfortable for him. Silverwood, of Wombwell Main, came in as reserve for Gordon Smith, who sustained rib injuries mid-week and was unfit to play.

Former Alfreton inside-forward Trevor Whittaker made his debut for Denaby something of a dream and seems to fit In well with the style of play, He will undoubtedly keep a first team place on this form.

He took the place of Ken Launders at inside-right. Launders displacing Freddie Jones at outside-left. Right-winger Alan Cooper also played well.

The visitors were two up at half-time, scorers being Brian Parker and Caunt from a penalty. Parker added his second and the third in the match, on the resumption.
