Denaby Come Unstuck

Lincoln C. Res. 7, Denaby U. 1

Denaby United, after their rousing defeat of Notts County Reserves, five days earlier, came unstuck at Sincell Bank to Lincoln City Reserves. This was City’s sixth victory in nine matches.

Davies put them ahead after five minutes, but their second goal was delayed until the 40th minute, and in the interval the Lincoln goal had escapes, notably when a shot from Windle caused Footitt to go full length, and again when Thompson rushed in to save a goal when Footitt was out of position. Thompson lobbed the ball, which struck the upright and rebounded into play.

After 40 minutes Cowley failed to gather the ball and Taylor put Lincoln further ahead, Edwards increasing the lead to give them a 3-0 interval advantage.

Duthie, Edwards (2) and Taylor got the ‘Imps” further goals in the second half, Killourhy scoring Denahy’s consolation goal. The half featured good work by Barke, Vickers and Madin.

Denaby are at home to Appleby and Frodingham in the English Cup to-morrow, kick-off 3 part.
