Retains Place

Although Denaby United failed to regain Midland League membership on Saturday, Mr Sam Peck, one of the club’s longest serving workers, retained his place in the league Management Committee.

Mr Peck, 20 years a member of Denaby United management committee, was his club’s Midland league representative until they were dropped from the league last year.

But to enable him to continue as a member of the league management committee, Gould town last year made him an associate member of their club and co-opted him onto their management committee.

Mr Peck, the first chairman of the reformed Midland league, was against “sponsored” by Gall when he stuck for re-election at the Lees Annual Meeting in Worksop on Saturday. He received 14 votes to 8 polled by his rival, Mr L Hamm of Sutton Town.
