Story of Misfortune.

Scunthorpe 4 , Denaby United 1

Denaby United’s splendid run of successes came to an end when they lost both points at Scunthorpe on Saturday, but all things considered little fault could be found with their showing.

Denaby arrived at Scunthorpe two players short and enlisted the aid of a Scunthorpe junior centre-forward, a Denaby follower making up the team. Then, midway through the first half, Uren, their goalkeeper, had the misfortune to injure his hand and had to change places with the outside right.

At this stage Denaby were only a goal down, scored by WALLACE. They made several fruitless attacks, and a breakaway by Scunthorpe saw BURTON score a second goal. In the second half Scunthorpe set the pace and BURTON scored two goals. Before the end SKIDMORE replied for Denaby.
