Flashing Lights at Crossing

In order to facilitate the operation of the crossing, twin flashing lights have been erected on the approaches to Denaby crossings.

The lights begin to flash when the gate operating switch is thrown, and continue until the gates are reopened. This is intended to give the motorist advanced warning that the gates are closing, and easy difficulty experienced by this signalmen in getting the gates closed while traffic is flowing.

A British Rail spokesman said: “the lights are an additional safety measure. There are no immediate plans to install a continental half barrier crossing.
