Further Signings Can Be Expected Says Denaby United President

Ahighly successful season in the Midland league with an abundance of goals and good football is forecast by Mr Sam Peck, Denaby United president.

After watching a Probables versus possibles practice match at Tickhill Square on Saturday evening, Mr Peck told a “South Yorkshire Times”  reporter that he was confident that the season will be very successful.

“I think they will get plenty of goals, and that games at Tickhill Square will be very entertaining,” he said.

Of the club’s reserve side Mr Peck remarked: “I think it will be as good as the Sheffield Association team three seasons ago, when we won the Association championship as well as the Montagu cup.

“We have made more signings than usual this season” he said, “especially for the second team. And I can say that further signings can be expected.”

Newcomers

Denaby fans will be delighted to learn that with the exception of Ron Duggan and Ken Lambert, who have joined Frickley, the Tickhill Square” stars” of last year are retained in the professional signings, and are joined by one or two interesting newcomers. Local boys Eastwood, Day, Lawley and Naylor are amongst them.
