9 August 1937

Sheffield Independent – Monday 09 August 1937

Haulage hands at Denaby Main Colliery, whose lightning strike last Wednesday threw 2,000 men idle for the remainder of the week, were strongly advised by officials of the Denaby Main branch of the Y.M.A., at a special meeting of the pit lads on Saturday, to resume work immediately pending negotiations.

After discussion lasting 90 minutes, the lads decided to accept their leaders’ advice, and work will resumed today.

Up During to-day. officials of the Denaby branch of the Y.M A. will seek a meeting with the colliery management to discuss the lad’s grievances, and further meetings of the boys, to receive reports of the results of the deputation, will be held to-morrow.
