Denaby Footballer Killed in Action

26 Glassworks Lane, Denaby Main, was killed in action in France on October 9.

He enlisted in April went to France in July.

He was well-known in Denaby as a footballer, was formerly attached to the new mission club. He also played football in France, and a few days before his death he won a medal in an intercompany match.

He was formerly employed at the Conisbrough glassworks, and was a Sunday school teacher at the Wesleyan church, Denaby main, where a service in his memory was held on Sunday.

His brother private Stanley Hinchcliffe (York and Lancs) now with the Salonica forces, has been away on active service two years and three months. He saw active service in Gallipoli in September 1915, and was invalided to Malta with fever. He is again down with fever.
