McCartney gets five in 10 goals match at Grantham

Leading 4-0 at half-time, Grantham went on to score five more goals in the second half against Denaby at Grantham.

Stocks open the game on the Grantham right and McCartney had a hard drive blocked by a defender. Denaby did breakaway Healy had to fist away from under the bar, a hard drive from Wilson, and the same player shot wide from close in. Grantham then went along on the right and Siddall cut in and shot. Pacey partly held a shot, but McCartney, rushing in, put the ball into the net to open for Grantham after 12 minutes. Pacey beat out a good drive from Siddall was deceived by a shot from McCartney, which crashed into the net for the own team’s third. Shortly before the interval McCartney completed his hat-trick.

The restart was made in the rain. Grantham became aggressive and Stocks put in the visitors goal. Then Pacey made a clever save from Siddall. Siddall, McCartney (two), Dickinson and Chester scored other goals for Grantham.
