But Scarborough meet upsets before Victory is Accomplished

Denaby & Cadeby 79 Scarborough 80 for 6

E R Bowker 6-30` J Richardson 41

Scarborough gained a remarkable victory when defeating Denaby and Cadeby by four wickets at Tickhill square on Saturday. Denaby were dismissed for 79, but Scarborough, apparently with an easy task, lost three wickets for only six runs and had six down before victory was accomplished

Opening for Denaby were Greenwood and Pitt-Pladdy. Greenwood made his first run and when attempting a second and was run out. Pitt-Pladdy played careful cricket before he began to hit out and scored two fours in succession. The first hour split produce 39, then Pitt-Pladdy, in attempting to pull Dennis round to leg, was struck on the knee and retired for a period. When he returned he was bowled for 19.

Denaby scored 79 all out.

With only three on the board. Pegg sent Temple back to the pavilion. Three more runs were added before Wilson caught the next batsmen off Porter. The crowd was in a jubilant mood when Wilson was out, and more excitement crept into the game when Porter, with his next delivery, sent Allan back.

There were times when both Richardson and Meads had narrow escapes, but they carried the total to 69 before Richardson was bowled by Bateson for 41, including six fours. Johnson failed to add to the total and another wicket fell at 69, when Meads was caught by Pegg of me for 40 balls. Smith and Bowker play steadily for 20 min to obtain the necessary runs without losing their wickets.

For Denaby. Bateson took two for 14, daughter two for 21 and Mee one for 15
