Mushrooming at Denaby Main.

On Saturday, at Doncaster West Biding Police Court, John Ward, collier, Denaby Main Colliery, was charged with doing damage to a fence in ‘a field belonging to the colliery company.

The colliery constable stated that he saw the man get over a hedge, doing damage estimated at sixpence. He then ranged the field, and when spoken to said he was searching for mushrooms. So much damage had been done to property belonging to the company in consequence of trespassing for mushrooms that he had been ordered to pay particular attention to the matter.

The defendant had to pay 14s. 6d., including damage and costs.
