Presentation

On Saturday at St. Alban’s Club, Mr. J. Hall, undermanager at Cadeby Colliery, on behalf of workmates and colleagues, presented to Mr. Perry L. Preston an inscribed clock and a wristlet watch to mark his retirement last week at the age of 65 years from Cadeby Colliery.

He is well known in the village for his social activities to which Mr. Hall paid tribute. He was for seven years chairman of the social side of the Miners’ Welfare Institute and he is now chairman of the new St. Alban’s Club.

Mr. Preston began work at Cadeby in 1914, but from 1919 to 1926 he served with the Royal Field Artillery and saw service abroad, and he was called up in the second World War as a reservist to serve with his unit.

Mr. Preston, of 8, Clifton Street, Denaby Main, expressed thanks to his colleagues for the gifts.
