Recruiting at Conisbrough

Recruiting work at Conisbrough is proceeding splendidly. Over 20 men have joined the forces from Cadeby colliery alone. The above photograph is that of the officials engaged in recruiting at the Conisbrough office.

Included in the group are Mr. John Brocklesby, J.P., Mr Geo. Brocklesby, junr., Mr. W. Smith, Mr. Bayley, Mr Montgomery Mr Parton, Mr Price, the town crier, a Boy Scout, and the Army recruiting officer, Mr James, M.Atkinson. Mr Caleb Kilner, who has rendered signal services in the recruiting work, is absent from the group, having been called away on important business.
