Denaby Man Wounded

Private J Rigby, Denaby, 6th Yorks and Lancs

Private J.Rigby of 49 Bolton Street, Denaby main, has been wounded at the Dardanelles. His right arm was injured on 7th August.

He is married and has seven children. One son is serving in the R..F.A.and is ready for going to the front.

Writing to his wife from hospital in Alexandria, about the recent fighting in Gallipoli, he says;

“When I began to descend the hill I think they took me for an officer, because I was so tall. The bullets whistled around my head like hailstones, and I got four holes in my helmet.”
