Knocked Down by Car

A Denaby miner, Richard Gibson, of Tickhill Street, was a witness in a case at Doncaster on Tuesday, when Carrie Dunstan, a Doncaster traveller, was summoned for having failed to report an accident within 24 hours.

Gibson told the Bench that on March 24 he was walking from home towards Cadeby colliery for the night shift, and was crossing the road near the Northcliffe Club, when he was knocked down by a car driven by the defendant. The impact knocked him unconscious and he had to be taken to Fullerton hospital.

Herbert Henry Chapell, 5 Thornhill Street, Denaby, gave a description of the accident.

Defendant said she was very excited, as a result of which she gave the wrong number of her car; the one for a car she had sold a fortnight previously.

She was fined 30 shillings, which was inclusive of costs.
