Hear Ye !

“WANTED, a street group secretary for every street in Conisbrough and Denaby !” is the cry of Conisbrough Savings Committee and the Urban Council representatives on the joint savings sub-committee pledged to ensure that the urban district reaches its £150,000 savings target by March 31st next.

Savings Committee chairman, Mr. I. K. Hetherington, believes that the goal can be reached if there are sufficient street group secretaries to go round. The Savings Committee and the Urban Council delegates will be glad to hear of volunteers. The sub-committee are attacking their part of the bargain with zeal and enthusiasm and every sphere of local life is to be asked to do its bit.

An interviewing panel has been appointed to approach employers where there are as yet no works groups and Mr. George Gibson, former T.U.C. president, is to be asked to address a meeting of colliery employees to be held at the Miners’ Welfare Hall on a Sunday morning, the date of which is to be arranged by Coun. G. Cheshire, J.P. Mr. R. W. Birch and Mr. T.C. Campbell, acting secretary of  Savings Committee.
