War is a Dreadful Thing

An interesting letter was received this week by Mr W Astbury of the Institute, Denaby Main from private O.Boylan, a member of the Denaby Main Corps of the St John Ambulance Brigade, who is now serving in H.M. Forces

In his letter he says: “We are having some fearful weather, wet and cold, but fortunately no fogs. You say it was rumoured that we were to have a holiday early in the New Year, but I am afraid this is not possible. I think all the men who have been home are the ones who have been wounded, and a few of the officers. I do not think any others will ever leave here until this terrible war is over. I may say I have not seen it all, but you can take it from me that war is a dreadful thing.”

He also writes saying that they receive regularly the “Mexborough Times” he concludes with his kind regards to the members of the Denaby Main Institute.
