Spotted Fever

Case reported at Denaby

Last weekend a Denaby pupil attending the Mexborough secondary school was discovered to be suffering from cerebral spinal meningitis (spotted fever) and was probably removed to the Conisbrough isolation hospital where is reported to making excellent progress.

On Tuesday the secondary school was closed for the purpose of carrying out a thorough disinfection, and all necessary precautionary measures were carried out under the supervision of the medical officer, Dr JJ Huey of Mexborough acting in conjunction with the sanitary authorities of the West Riding county council and the Doncaster rural district Council.

The chairman of the governors of the school (Mr JH Watson J. P., C.C.) acting for the school has decided as a measure of absolute safety that the School shall not reopen until April 11 and the Easter vacation commences at once.
