A Record Year.

The past 12 months have formed a record so far as the coal sent to Hull is concerned. Although, as a rule the West Yorkshire collieries have improved their position – in some instances materially – the bulk of the best steam coal has been sent from South Yorkshire, the Denaby and Cadeby collieries having supplied over half a million tons, equivalent to about one fourth of the entire quantity exported.

Most of the leading firms in South Yorkshire have largely participated in the business done. The Denaby and Cadeby collieries – which for years have taken the Premier position – again head the list with a large increase. Last year the firm supplied 529,648 tons as against 440,712 tons in 1899, an increase of 88,936 tons.

The following is a list of the leading Yorkshire collieries, showing the quantities sent during the past four years:
