The Hunt – An Accident.

On Wednesday, while the hunters were proceeding through Conisborough, Mrs Wood, who has been indisposed for some time, was out for a ride, being driven by a donkey, her husband following by the side, when, as the horses came by, the stupid animal, threw aside it’s ordinarily quietness, and giving a plunge, as though wishful of taking part in the enjoyment of the horse and its rider, upset both itself, the conveyance, and the occupant.

The occurrence could not help but provoke laughter from the hunters, one of whom descended to render assistance.

With a great deal of difficulty, the lady was unstrapped from her seat and everything was soon put right again

Of course the respectful vicar, as well as his wife – who did not sustain more than a shaking – were very much affrighted, as shown by their countenances. The silly donkey was quieter afterwards.

Great interest was manifested as the young huntsmenon their lively steeds rushed through this picturesque village, staying for no obstacles but jumping hedges and ditches and bounding across fields until out of sight.
