Under Age Drinker

A 16-year-old Denaby girl who was before Doncaster West riding magistrates yesterday, (Thursday), blamed an offence of drinking underage on the lack of friends of her own age.

The girl admitted drinking intoxicating liquor in Denaby Main Hotel on a Saturday night. She told the magistrates, “there is nothing else for me to do in Denaby on Saturday night. There is only one youth club and I do not like going there.”

Inspector W. Heron said that B. C. Goodridge heard a commotion outside the police station and saw a girl being carried by a man was running with her towards the marketplace. He said she was kicking and screaming when the police officer stopped them and she appeared to be hysterical. He added, “she was very much under the influence of drink.”

She was fined £3.
