Windhill and Ellershaw Estates’ New Bus Service.

A New ‘bus service to serve the Windhill Estate, Mexborough, and the Ellershaw Estate, Conisbrough, will commence operation on Monday, January 21st. The service will be operated by the Mexborough and Swinton Traction Company, by arrangement with Mexborough and Conisbrough Urban Councils.

The service will be from Manvers Main or Highwoods Estate to the Ellershaw Estate, via Windhill and Denaby. From City Bank, Mexborough the bus will reach Windhill via Adwick Road and Morton Road. It will proceed down Hirstgate to join the trolley ‘bus route from Mexborough through Denaby to Conisbrough. At Conisbrough it will turn off the Lewes Road into Ellershaw Lane and thence to Poplar Grove. The reverse journey will cover the same route.

The first ‘bus to poplar Grove operates from City bank at 4-35 a.m., travelling direct to the Old Toll Bar, Denaby and Conisbrough. The first ‘bus from Manvers Main leaves at 5-30 a.m., and this also proceeds direct to Poplar Grove. The first ‘bus which travels via Windhill to Poplar Grove leaves at 6 a.m.

The first ‘bus in the opposite direction leaves Poplar Grove at 5 a.m. and travels via Windhill to Manvers Main.

The last ‘bus leaves Manvers Main at 9-30 p.m. direct to Poplar Grove (not via Windhill). The last ‘bus to Poplar Grove via Windhill leaves Eden Terrace at 10 p.m., and direct to Poplar Grove (not via Windhill) at 10-30 p.m. from Eden Terrace. At 11 p.m. a ‘bus will travel from Eden Terrace via City Bank to the Rawmarsh Depot.

In the opposite direction, the last ‘bus to Manvers Main leaves Poplar Grove at 9 p.m.; the last ‘bus from Poplar Grove to Eden Terrace via Windhill at 10 p.m.; the last ‘bus from Poplar Grove to Eden Terrace not via Winhill, at 10-30 p.m. At 11 p.m. there is a ‘bus leaving Poplar Grove via Windhill to Rawmarsh Depot.
