Wounded : Greathead, Howler, Ray, Sutton

Sgt Howler

Mr and Mrs Howell, Park road, Conisbrough, received word at the end of last week that their son, Sgt Fowler, had been severely wounded on active service in France. Sgt Fowler’s mother and brother went to France later to visit the sufferer in a French hospital .

Private J.W.Sutton , was formerly assistant coal inspector at the Denaby Colliery, joined the Army in May, and is now in hospital in Canterbury, severely wounded.

Private R.Ray

Mrs Ray, 20 Doncaster road, Conisbrough, has been informed that her husband, Private Robert Ray (Sherwood Foresters) is suffering from trench feet and has been removed from France to the third Scottish general hospital at Glasgow.

Private O. Greathead

Mrs Greathead 10, Willow Terrace, Low Road, Conisbrough has been informed that her husband, private Oliver Greathead(York and Lancs) is in hospital in France, with severe sprains in the back and legs

Mexborough and Swinton Times, October 6, 1917

Private J.W.Sutton
