This friendly match took place on the Wath Athletic ground last Saturday. Wath batted first and Thomson was run out after scoring three, but Hopson and the Wath pro, Allan carried the score to 94, before Hopson, who had compiled 38 in capital style, was given out leg before after batting an hour and a half. This engagement was played at Denaby on Saturday, in fine weather. Feirn for the visitors, short fine form with the ball, and seen to be returning to his form again, the visitors also had the help of L Beckett, Mexborough bowler, who showed fine form in the bowling department. Denaby were soon got rid of for the small total of 43 runs, more being the chief scorer with 16 to his credit, while France, for Swinton made 30 by excellent cricket.
