The news of the success of the 10 per cent, movement reached the Denaby Main miners’ officials on Tuesday night, and nine o’clock yesterday morning a deputation was at the office of the manager (Mr. Chambers) at the colliery to ascertain if work could be resumed.

The manager readily stated that the men could resume work as speedily as possible, and the deputation thanked him and withdrew. An hour later the news was communicated to mass meeting of the men.

Great satisfaction was expressed at the speedy solution of the difficulty. After the deputation had explained what had been said at the interview with the manager, which was loudly cheered, a resolution was unanimously carried to return to the pit today.

In the afternoon the men went to the colliery and signed their names in the company’s books in the customary formal manner prior to restarting work. Not only at Denaby, but at Mexbro’ and throughout the district, intense satisfaction is felt at the conclusion of the crisis, and that the winter prospects are so promising.

The miners state that the union officials will now be better supported than ever, and that the non-union men will rapidly enrol themselves as members of the association
