Temporary Classrooms.
A protest at the siting of temporary classrooms, and their acceptance by the Governors, was made by Councillor Tom Hill at a meeting of Conisbrough Secondary School Governors on Tuesday. He said they kept accepting the provisional: classrooms which only retarded the future development of the school.
“We have got to press for the proper development of the school,” he said.
Cllr R.H. Shephard commences, “It doesn’t matter what we want the County will do what they want.”
The Governors agreed to the siting of the classrooms and the chairman, Councillor and Mrs D Lynagh said, “It will be 1968 before we get any building done here and we need extra classrooms urgently.”
The headmaster, Mr A.G.G. Young, said he sympathised with Councillor Hill’s view, but there were children in the school who are in urgent need of classrooms.
