130 Children at Evacuees Party

Evacuees Party.

The vicar of Conisbrough, Canon H.T.Eddershaw, and the Wesleyan Minister, the Rev.W.Thynne, welcomed 130 children, and about 30 mothers who had been evacuated into the Conisbrough district at a Christmas party held in the Wesley Church schoolroom, on Tuesday afternoon.

The guests were entertained with a pantomime, “The Sleeping Beauty,” given by children of the New Hill Methodist Church.

At the conclusion of the pantomime. Tea was taken was followed by games and competitions and each child was presented with a Threepenny peace.

The event was organised by the Conisbrough Billeting Officer, Mr G.R.Hill, assisted by members of the local Women’s Voluntary Service.
