Tough Prospect for Joyce

With the completion of the London A.B.A. championships last week the finalists for the national A.B.A. titles at Wembley next Friday have been decided and Conisbrough lightweight Tommy Joyce will have to be on top of his form if he is to succeed.

The lightweight division has produced some surprises and the men who reach the final will certainly have earned their place.

In the London finals, Al White, of the Stock Exchange Club, scored a tearaway victory to beat Bill Hyatt (Battersea) to join Joyce, SAC Byrne, of the R.A.F., and Bob Gwynne, of Wales, in the semi-finals next week.

The semi-finals should certainly produce fireworks, and with his big day approaching the Conisbrough 17-year-old, who won the junior title last year, is stepping up his training.

He is determined to bring a title back to South Yorkshire.
