Denaby Parking Ban is Sought

Double-parking incidents outside a newly-opened Denaby Main supermarket may lead to a complete parking ban on the village’s main street – Doncaster Road.

Conisbrough’s Road and home Safety Committee decided to press for a ban on parked cars following complaints at its meeting on Tuesday.

Coun. A.E. Tyas told members, “We have got to get down to this problem of parking in Doncaster road, Denaby.

“Since the supermarket opened I have been pulled out with complaints about the parking of cars on both sides of Doncaster Road. The local Council has just got to get down to this question.

“It is exactly the same problem in Conisbrough, where we have cars parked in a bus stop pull-in while there’s a car park available nearby.”

A representative of the West Riding Police at Denaby commented, “We have also had a good many complaints about double parking against the supermarket. The proprietor of a garage nearby has complained that people can’t get in and out of the forecourt because of this parking, but our strength is very limited and we can’t stop up there all the time.”

It was decided to ask Conisbrough Urban Council’s Highway Committee to consider the problem, with a view to pressing it at County level for a parking ban on both sides of Doncaster Road.

Said Coun. Tyas, “We have been talking about this long enough. No matter where you park on this main road in Denaby, you are on a dangerous corner.”
