Foot Run Over by Bus
Denaby Miner Hurt at Doncaster

Hurrying for the bus, in Waterdale bus depot at Doncaster, after a shopping expedition, his daughter Jacqueline in his left arm and carrying a paper-bag full of crockery under his other arm, Mr. J. T. Spooner, of Annerley Street, Denaby, looked round to see if his wife was following and had his foot run over by a bus.

His daughter was flung clear, and escaped with a grazed knee and torn coat. The crockery, which Mr. Spooner dropped, was almost undamaged – one saucer was cracked and a cup-handle broken – but Mr. Spooner was taken to Doncaster Infirmary where it was found that he had one of the bones on his ankle broken and he had to have stitches in a flesh wound.

Mr. Spooner, who is a miner at Cadeby Colliery, had only been working a fortnight, after being off work with cartilage trouble in his other leg for ten weeks.

Jacqueline, who is three years old, was playing as happily as ever when she was seen by a ‘Times’ reporter on Tuesday, but Mr. Spooner is having to use crutches for a time
