In their home fixture with Denaby yesterday (Thursday) South Kirkby were heavily defeated. Denaby had the assistance of R Burkinshaw, the Mexborough batsman.

Tibbles and Burkinshaw opened the innings for the visitors, and the score board recorded 30 before Tibbles was run out with 15 to his credit. Turkish at 16, but in attempted send a loose ball to the boundary he was caught behind the wicket. After Shoosmith had been run out, Worthington and Pattison quickly mastered the bowling, and the score rose to 108 before Pattison was dismissed, Bidmead making a fine one-handed catch. With no alteration in the score, Worthington was caught by Hobson after playing well for 47. The rest of the wickets fell quickly. A Carlin (25) being the only outstanding batsmen.

South Kirkby could make no impression on the bowling of Denaby, and were dismissed for 50. For Denaby Kennedy took four for 17 including the “hat-trick” Worthington five for 25 and for South Kirkby Russell at seven for 55.
