Leger Fever – Everyone Studying Form

Leger Fever

Although Conisbrough is more than 4 miles from Doncaster it seems to be as much in the Pre Leger grip as any part of Doncaster.

The workmen’s club, usually a hive of news, are all in then ‘nothing doing’ mood. Excuses… Everyone is studying form.

In certain places it is sacrilege even to mention anything else but the Leger, in weeks preceding the big race. Football matches, darts competitions, bowls and snooker tournaments are secondary occupations compared when with the study of the classic St. Leger.

When arrangements are being made for any part in our social event, if there is any suggestion of having it during the coming week or, infact, this week there is an immediate outcry that is Leger or Lre leger week.

Let us hope, anyway, that things will again return to normal after everyone has had their ‘little fling.’
