Chairman’s Appeal

Conisbrough Council Chairman, Councillor G Cheshire, J.P., said yesterday that he was making an urgent appeal to all Conisbrough and Denaby residents to assist the Lord Mayor of London’s United Appeal for Children, which the Lord may launch through the BBC on Wednesday.

Councillor Cheshire pointed out that ill close young and hungry children were still to be found in very great numbers in the war devastated countries of the world its spite of all that the Governments and peoples of the stricken countries had been able to do, Also the destruction of schools and school equipment had robbed great numbers of children of opportunities for organised education.

The Lord Mayor of London has approached Court. Cheshire pith a view to enlisting Conisbrough’s interest in the appeal, and Mr Cheshire              is desirous that the urban district shall make a good showing Donations (money Only) should the sent to the Mansion House, London, E.C.4,
