Interesting Old House
To Be Restored at Conisbrough

Church House, Conisbrough, a 18th century building which was occupied by the church verger, Mr. Percy Liversidge, is to be preserved because of its architectural interest and its unusual ornamentation, and although the house has been declared unfit for human habitation, a fund has been started to restore it.

The tenant was re-housed in a Council house this week, and the vicar, the Rev. G. F. Braithwaite, said he was reopening a fund which was started some ten years ago for the restoration of the building.

The vicar said about £120 had been raised, then the plan had been shelved.

Mr. Braithwaite said the house, which is situated near the Church Hall at 18, Church Street, was “an interesting old house and a worthy example of its period.”
